Adjudication Form (in PDF)

Performances: Each school group is scheduled for a 40 minute inclusive adjudicated performance time in U-32's fine auditorium.  We will provide the following for your group's performance in either site:

Music Stands
Chairs
Guitar Amp
Bass Amp
Piano
PA
Drumset

Your 40 minutes includes setup and takedown.  The drumset, piano and amps will be on the conductor's left as he/she faces the group for all setups.

Critiques: Each school will receive a completed rubric-style adjudication sheet and recorded critiques of their performance from each of the adjudicators. CDs for this purpose will be provided. As well, one or more of the adjudicators will give verbal comments to your group on stage at the conclusion of your performance and may (if time allows) work with them using some of your performance music.

Program List & Scores:  Each school should provide the adjudicators with a printed list of the pieces to be performed (including soloists) and three photocopies of the score to each of those pieces.  The score copies are for this educational purpose only and become the property of the IAJE-Vermont Unit.  To be able to use copyrighted material in this manner, jazz ensemble directors must have the original scores with them at the time of their performances.

Seating: Seating during the festival for viewing school performances will be available on the U-32 auditorium.

Restrooms: Restrooms are located in the hallway that runs outside the back of the auditorium.

Lunch: Please plan on eating at the local fast food restaurants which are all on the Barre - Montpelier Road just down the hill from the school: McDonalds, Burger King, Friendlys, & KFC are all there within a mile of the school.

FOOD OR DRINKS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE PERFORMANCE SITE. Please use the trash receptacles provided for all trash.

Security: Each school is responsible for their own equipment and the behavior of their students. It is suggested that directors have three chaperones to help monitor students during non-performing times. We are very grateful to U-32 for sharing their space with us and want to make sure that everything remains as it was when we arrived.  Equipment may be stored in your bus or in the back of the auditorium.  Please do not block accessways. PLEASE LABEL ALL STUDENT INSTRUMENTS AND SCHOOL EQUIPMENT.

Drop-off / Parking: School groups should arrive at the front entrance and unload along the bus drive lane. Buses can then park at the top of the main parking lot.  Vehicles may be left there during the festival. Students should enter the school through the doors to the far left (not the main entrance).

Warm-up:  Due to the limited amount of rooms available, we are asking that groups be very flexible about warmup spaces as we do not have specific rooms to offer.  The hallways are available, but obviously need to used for traffic and multiple groups. There should be adequate time onstage to accomplish much of your warmups.

Festival Fees:  Your school's Festival Fee Invoice are available online. Click on your school name on the Festival Schedule page to print out your invoice. Please send the money to Steffen Parker as soon as possible.
